Cookies and device storage

Wattwise separates storage needed to operate the service from optional analytics and advertising technologies. Optional services remain off until the required choice is recorded.

Necessary device storage

Wattwise does not require login storage. It uses device storage for regional settings, calculator drafts, households, appliances, bills, scenarios, budgets, dismissed notices, and privacy choices. These values support requested features and are not used for cross-site advertising.

Device-local data remains until it is replaced or cleared through Wattwise Settings or browser controls. The advertising-consent record is versioned so a material purpose or vendor change can require a new choice.

Current first-party inventory

wattwise:regional-settings stores selected country, currency, locale, language, time zone, and related presentation settings. wattwise:consent:v2 stores necessary, analytics, advertising, personalisation, region category, source, version, and update time. Device-local workspace keys store calculator drafts, households, appliances, bills, scenarios, and settings only in the current browser.

Dismissal keys remember that a user closed an advertising or house notice. Their configured duration is seven days for a mobile anchor and thirty days for the general ad-block notice.

Analytics and advertising

No analytics provider is enabled by default. If the owner configures one, analytics storage and requests must wait for the applicable choice and must exclude bills, household records, saved appliance inputs, uploads, security settings, and private notes.

Google AdSense is disabled unless valid production configuration is supplied. When enabled on an eligible public page, Google and its partners may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, or other identifiers to deliver and measure personalised, non-personalised, or limited adverts according to the consent signal and provider rules.

Details are available in Google's explanation of how it uses information from partner sites. Personalised advertising controls are available through Google Ads Settings.

Changing or withdrawing a choice

Use Cookie preferences at any time to reject optional services or save a narrower choice. Withdrawal prevents future optional provider loading; a provider may require its own documented deletion or opt-out process for data already collected.

Global Privacy Control is treated as an opt-out signal in the technical hook. Regional legal interpretation and retention periods require owner and professional review before launch.
